library day

Yesterday was library day. We usually go once a week with friends, but because of the holidays and sickness we hadn't been in a while. I love going to the library! Anyone else like the library??

vacation photos

last month we went on vacation to a beautiful lake. we got to stay in a friends house, and had so much fun. it was our first vacation in five years, so we just relaxed and enjoyed our stay. :-)

babysister is now 10 1/2 months old and has started walking! she talks a little and has finally gotten some teeth. :-)

 

 

 

so... this week i started training for a 5K. i tried to start running several months ago, but just wasn't motivated enough. now i am, cause theirs a race in January and i'm going to run it!! does you run?

 

 

fall. don't you love this time of year? the pecans are starting to fall from the tree tops, it actually rained on Sunday, and i wear sweaters and skinny jeans all the time. the next thing i can't wait for: fires in the wood stove!

saturday night ramblings

• today was Charlie's memorial service. i don't know quite what to say about it, except it was good. no, nice? i'm not sure what the right word is.

• on the way home dad asked if anyone had turned the pot of beans off before we left. negative. so, we came home and our house was filled with burnt bean smoke. everything that is made of fabric smells. ugh. but, the house didn't burn down, and we are thankful for that. 

• we started watching the first season of Gilmore Girls. i love that show. :-) anybody else out there like it too?

• how 'bout Lost? i'm pretty sure we are the last people in the world to start watching it. but we're hooked. at the rate we watch tv, we'll be through season one in, 6 months? but we like it. :-)

• i'm hosting a big giveaway on monday. be sure and come check it out!

• my momma made a cute (and simple) headband today. maybe i will have her do a little tutorial on her blog.

• the above photo i took yesterday at our friends house. the sky was beautiful and i love that they still have they're Christmas lights up from last year. :-)

how true.

 

today i'm remembering all those who died nine years ago today.

 

and remembering how blessed i am to have been able to be with little Charlie during his short life on earth.

there are no words

On Monday morning our dear friends Bryan and Rachel Gumpy were blessed with their firstborn, Charles. He was born 10 weeks early, and was quickly flown to another hospital. Bryan and Rachel got to spend three days with their little man. This morning he went to be with Jesus. My Dad and I, and our pastor and his wife, went down to see Charlie and his parents Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. He wasn't expected to live through the night. But he did, and all through Wednesday. Dad and I came home last night.

I have known Bryan and Rachel for three years. Before they got married, Rachel lived with us. She became part of the family. They are so young, not much older than me. It is very hard to watch them hurt.

We know that God will be glorified through this somehow. But it is hard. Please pray for Bryan and Rachel, and all of their family and friends.

For only living on earth three days, Charlie sure touched a lot of lives. He had thousands and thousands of people all over the US and the world praying for him and his family. I have never witnessed anything like it.

I have a few ideas I've been tossing around on how to raise money for the Gumpy's (for doctor/hospital bills, etc.). One of the ideas is a giveaway on here.
